Wave Volleyball Club was founded out of a father's newfound love for volleyball and his desire to spend quality time with his daughter. This passion has grown into a mission to create a welcoming and supportive environment for young girls to develop their volleyball skills and build lasting friendships.
At Wave Volleyball Club, we believe in the power of sports to inspire and transform. Our goal is to help each player reach her full potential both on and off the court. We provide top-notch coaching, fostering teamwork, discipline, and confidence in every practice and game.
Join us and ride the wave of growth, fun, and achievement!

Doug has been immersed in the sport of volleyball for over 30 years as a player and as a coach for more than 13 years. His passion for the game is evident in his commitment to developing skilled, confident, and motivated athletes. Doug’s coaching philosophy centers around fostering a love for the sport while pushing players to achieve their full potential.
In high school volleyball, Doug has made a significant impact. He served as an assistant varsity coach at both KCD and 4 years at Oldham County High School. OC had multiple successful seasons, including several with 30+ wins, ranking as high as 5th in the state and 45th in the nation. Doug then became the head coach at Spencer County High School, where he built a program that set numerous school records during his tenure from 2018 to 2021. Highlights include Spencer County’s first winning season in his first year, the most wins in a season, the title of winningest coach in school history, the program’s first appearance in the district finals, and three consecutive regional appearances. Now, in his fourth year at Ballard High School, Doug has continued to elevate the program. During the 2024-2025 season, the Bruins set a new school record for most wins in a season, were crowned district champions, and finished ranked 16th in the state. This was Doug’s first year as Ballard’s Head Coach, after three years as Associate Head Coach.
Doug has also made a lasting impact in club volleyball since 2014. As a head coach, he has led many top teams in the 12s, 13s, and 14s age groups, achieving success at the premier and open levels. Doug’s teams consistently won 70% or more of their season matches, and he was well known to be one of the most successful travel coaches at his previous club. In addition to his team coaching, Doug regularly conducts skills clinics and offers private instruction, further contributing to the development of players across the region.
A native of Louisville, Doug graduated from Pleasure Ridge Park High School and attended the University of Louisville. Professionally, Doug worked as a technologist for several Fortune 100 companies. He retired in 2023 to focus entirely on his coaching career. Doug is married to Michele, a very supportive and understanding partner, and they have a daughter, Jordyn, who played volleyball at Sacred Heart Academy and at club programs. Jordyn is now a 5th grade teacher at KCD and an avid fitness and yoga instructor.
Doug is excited to "Join the Wave" and is eager to help build a successful program at the new Louisville volleyball club. His dedication to athletes and their development is at the heart of everything he does.
